I recently had the amazing opportunity to come across this story about Lt Colonel Greg Gadson speaking about the experience that changed his life. After attending the US Military Academy at West Point and playing ARMY football, Colonel Gadson journeyed through a very successful military career. The event that changed his life occurred while commanding US troops in Iraq when the vehicle that he was riding in made contact with an explosive device. As a result of the explosion, Gadson underwent multiple lifesaving surgeries, but ultimately lost both of his legs above the knee. That was in 2007.

Today Greg is very well known for the inspirational discussions that he leads. His message is one of the most powerful that I have heard in a long time… and I really love listing to motivational speakers. Greg’s message is all about the power of team and the power of the relationships that you build throughout your life and your career. He tells the story of how he survived his ordeal because of his teammates. He went on to explain how he mentally and physically survived almost three years of recovery and the challenges of adapting to new way of life.

It’s said that when you meet Greg it is impossible to miss one of his most striking abilities… he is completely mobile and ambulatory with the use of two highly advanced prosthetic legs. Greg is a BIG guy, and when he walks into a room on two mechanical legs, you can’t help but admire his strength and courage, while at the same time put your own abilities into perspective. Then, when Greg explains how his leadership style allowed him to build a team of people with trusted relationships who would ultimately save his life, the message comes through loud and clear.

My belief that success through strong leadership, execution, and trusted relationships is absolutely confirmed and re-inspired by Colonel Gadson.

Have a great weekend…I hope you will be inspired and be thankful!
